WWCA Annual Business Meeting
Regency Suites - Green Bay
November 5, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 11:50 a.m. by President Bob Empey.

Don Hale read the Secretary's Report from the 2004 Business meeting. Eric Dahmen made a motion to accept the Secretary's Report. Bill Verbeten second. Motion carried.

Luke Francois gave the Treasurer's Report. The WWCA has approximately $71,451.00 before clinic expenses are paid. Barry Schmitt made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report. Doug LeClair second. Motion carried.

Bob explained to the coaches about the cost of the clinic. $10.00 goes for the cost of the Crossface, $10.00 goes for the Web-site expense. $80.00 goes for banquet, lunch, clinicians, fees, transportation, and rental costs. Money also is used for awards.

Bob stated the WIAA has a T.V. package with Fox Sports North Network to televise the State Individual Tournament. Luke Francois coordinated the sponsors for the radio broadcasts. The Wisconsin Army National Guard and the Shockley Foundation are both contributing $5,000.00 for a total of $10,000.00 to help promote wrestling with promos during the State Wrestling Tournament.

Next year (2006) there will be a Computer Program developed by Justin Tritz to enter 7% measurement data which can be sent to the WIAA by the web-site. This would be a great assist to the saving of time.

The Fall Clinic with the Regency Suites expires in 2006. The Executive Committee voted to sign a 2 year contract for 2007-2008.

The Hall of Fame will be displayed by a kiosk in the Kohl Center and Camp Randall. It will cost the WWCA $1900.00 for this update. The plaques from the field house have been removed and the Hall of Fame Chairman (Jerry Barr) is asking the membership if they have any ideas for the display.

The Alumni Committee is working on a History of Wisconsin Wrestling. Included in the history would be the WWCA, Committees, and Conference history. They are looking for information in regards to the 1950's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. The WWCA and Alumni Committee are also looking for a building for displaying the History of Wisconsin Wrestling. Bob Empey asked if anyone has any ideas or availability of such a building to contact him.

The 2006 Golf Outing will be held June 17, 2006, in Winneconne at the Lake Breeze Golf Course. If anyone would like to sponsor a hole or donate prizes, they should contact the Golf Tournament Chairman Blaine Felsman.

The WWCA website will be changed from Web-Feet to Justin Tritz of Trackwrestling.com. Justin will take over when our work with Web-feet is done. Bob Olson will still be our Website Committee Chairman. We are encouraged to utilize the website for voting. Members could do a much better job in this area. Coaches can do a much better job by reporting dual-meet scores. Through the use of Trackwrestling.com, scores can be reported and placed in the newspapers. This service is free, but coaches need to utilize this. The State Tournament Series will also be done by Track Wrestling.

USA Wrestling will sponsor a Coaches Summit in the spring. They will supply clinicians to show instruction on Freestyle and Greco Wrestling, with other options, such as nutrition. The cost for coaches would only be for their lunch.

Bob spoke on the awards at the WIAA Individual State Tournament. WIAA Associate Director Dave Anderson stated he had no problem to award the winning coach/ team from trackwrestling.com stats as long as it was from the WWCA and not from the WIAA.

Bob Empey briefly gave an overview of Rich Carlson's (who works with the WIAA Tournament) 3rd place proposal. The proposal has the loser of the semi-finals having to wrestle the winner coming back from the 5th/6th place match. After discussion and show of hands by the membership, Bob would go forward to initiate the proposal.

Bob wanted the Association to thank All-American Supplies for all of their donations over these past years.

Bob also suggested to the membership to send their comment sheets they receive after the State Tournament Series to Dave Anderson. He does take the time to read what our coaches have to say.

Eric Dahmen made a motion to adjourn. Wendall Bean second.

Meeting adjourned at 12:33 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Don Hale
WWCA Secretary
