Spring is filled with many thoughts and conversations that are different than in any time of the year. Banquets at the end of the season celebrate the season that was filled with great memories that the student/athletes provided for their programs and communities. Some of those stories will stand a lifetime in hopes of some young wrestler hearing the story will be inspired to believe that they can do it as well or even better. Open tournaments for Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco are up and moving in hope of providing for the opportunity of creating the next “great” one. I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of you that made the 2006-07 wrestling season one to never forget. Wisconsin Wrestling reached new levels and we will strive to go higher, but it will not without the help of all of us working together trying to make it happen.

The WIAA Coaches Advisory and the WIAA 7% Committee have met and some outstanding improvements to the 2007-08 were recommended. The minutes to those meetings will be posted on our website www.wwca.org when they become available. One noteworthy recommendation was the changing of the order of rounds on Thursday and Friday night of the WIAA State Individual Tournament. This is in behalf not only of the student/athletes and coaches in the tournament, but also the parents, fans, and wrestling enthusiasts that attend the tournament. It is the little things that make a difference in making something good, great. Thank you to all of you that passed along your thoughts to a member of the Executive Board or to one of the members of those committees.

Have a great spring. Remember to keep promoting and improving the great sport of wrestling in Wisconsin.
