The start of the school year indicates that the wrestling season will soon be upon us. We begin the discussions of scheduling buses, practice plans, coaching changes, and how the team is going to look. The Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association and the Fall Clinic also has that feel of curosity and excitement as the new year starts. We would like to say thank you to Craig Belcher, Bret Corner, and Mel Dow for you countless hours that you put in with the Executive Board over the years. We would not be where we are today without you. Thanks again. Also, we are honored to add Mike DeRoehn, Dave McCarthy, and John Quinlan to our board as they will continue to bring new ideas and energy as those in the past have. The executive board is a tireless group of wrestling enthusiasts that truly listen to the challenges of Wisconsin wrestling coaches. There are no stones unturned in the meetings. More times than not, these discussions that occur consumes them well outside the meetings. It is truly an honor to work with a group of people that have that much passion for the sport of wrestling. No, it is just plain fun.

As we look to the upcoming year, or into the future, we will continue to be the platform of advocates for the coaches in the trenches. A source of information to hopefully continue to make wrestling the greatest sport to participate in.A source for coaches to help retain athletes that we have, but also help provide ways to recruit athletes out of our school hallways to help grow our sport. Additionally, an organization that can connect with the WIAA and the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation to better communicate the challenges of the sport of wrestling that occur with our ever changing world of the student/athlete and their parents.

As the season approaches, become a member of the association. It is a very powerful tool to say that 1000 members of our association believe this. Your voice does truly make a difference. Also, make plans to attend the WWCA Fall Clinic as it is a great place to attend and become grounded in the sport with all the other wrestling enthusiasts in the state. Check out our website www.wwca.org and get signed up today! Let's prepare for an exciting, memory filled season here in the Badger state!
